DELIVERANCE MINISTRY 축사사역
"Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught there in the synagogue every Sabbath day. 32 There, too, the people were amazed at his teaching, for he spoke with authority.
33 Once when he was in the synagogue, a man possessed by a demon—an evil spirit—cried out, shouting, 34 “Go away! Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
35 But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. At that, the demon threw the man to the floor as the crowd watched; then it came out of him without hurting him further.
36 Amazed, the people exclaimed, “What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!” 37 The news about Jesus spread through every village in the entire region." Luke 4:31-37
Intro to Deliverance Ministry
We are living in times where technology is so advanced that often a common cold, fever, and flu are treated as a non-threat to medical conditions and people get their treatments from the pharmacy shelf. Cancer and AIDS might become curable as the medical world gradually invents strong vaccines. However, in spite of inventing cures and preventive medicine, the medical world has not found the cause and origins of viruses. Even as civil laws are upgraded and rewritten, crimes are skyrocketing with severe degrees of criminal methods in practices. I thought that when Jesus died on the cross Christians would be sin free and immune to demons and their garbage, often seen it in the lives of non-Christians. However, on many occasions we cannot differentiate who are Christians and who are non-Christian. If Jesus conquered the ruler of death, and established the church as his earthly body, why are there are so many characteristics of evil and dark spirits such as sicknesses, hatred, murder, pain, and sorrows all around us in our Christian life

What is Satan (Devil), Fallen Angels and Demons?
Learn about the spiritual beings in the heaven and universe:
1. God (Triune or Trinity)
2. God's Heavenly Angels
3. Human (Body, Soul, and Spirit)
4. Satan and his fallen angels, and demons.
What Does Jesus Say About the Devil?
1. The Devil Is a Murderer and the Father of Lies
Jesus gives the most detailed description in John 8:44:
“He was a murderer from the beginning…
he does not stand in the truth…
he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Jesus’ key points:
-
The devil opposes truth.
-
All deception originates with him.
-
His nature is violence, destruction, and falsehood.
🐍 2. The Devil Is the Enemy Who Steals, Tempts, and Destroys
The Tempter
In the wilderness, the devil personally tempts Jesus (Matt 4:1–11; Luke 4:1–13).
Jesus reveals that Satan:
-
Twists Scripture
-
Offers counterfeit authority
-
Attacks identity (“If you are the Son of God…”)
-
Seeks worship
The Thief
In John 10:10 Jesus describes the devil’s purpose through evil forces:
“The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.”
👑 3. The Devil Is the Ruler of This World (For Now)
Jesus says:
“The ruler of this world will be cast out.”
— John 12:31
“The ruler of this world is coming.”
— John 14:30
“The ruler of this world has been judged.”
— John 16:11
Satan has real but temporary authority in the present age.
🔒 4. The Devil Oppresses People Physically and Spiritually
Jesus describes a woman in Luke 13:16 as:
“A daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound for eighteen years.”
Jesus attributes some physical afflictions to demonic oppression—not all suffering, but some.
🧠 5. The Devil Plants Evil Influence
In the Parable of the Weeds, Jesus says:
“The enemy who sowed them is the devil.”
— Matt 13:39
Satan actively sows deception, wicked ideas, false teaching, and counterfeit believers.
📦 6. The Devil Takes God’s Word Away
In the Parable of the Sower:
“The evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in the heart.”
— Matt 13:19
Satan’s goal is to stop spiritual transformation at the heart level.
🧹 7. The Devil Tries to Return After Deliverance
Jesus warns:
“When an unclean spirit leaves a person…
it says, ‘I will return to my house.’”
— Matt 12:43–45
Deliverance must be followed by discipleship, filling, and spiritual growth.
💀 8. The Devil Desires to Destroy God’s Servants
Jesus tells Peter:
“Satan demanded to sift you like wheat.”
— Luke 22:31
Satan’s goal is to crush, shake, and break believers—but Jesus intercedes.
✝️ 9. Jesus Came to Destroy the Devil’s Work
Jesus explains His mission:
“If I cast out demons by the Spirit of God,
then the kingdom of God has come upon you.”
— Matt 12:28
His exorcisms were proof that God’s kingdom was overthrowing Satan’s kingdom.
👑 10. Jesus Guarantees Satan’s Final Defeat
Jesus promises in Luke 10:18:
“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
The defeat is:
-
Past (Satan cast from heaven’s throne room)
-
Present (authority given to disciples)
-
Future (final destruction)
⭐ Summary: What Jesus Taught About the Devil
According to Jesus:
-
The devil is real, personal, and evil
-
He is a liar, murderer, and deceiver
-
He tempts, accuses, oppresses, and destroys
-
He is the temporary ruler of this world
-
Jesus’ mission is to break his power
-
Satan will be ultimately judged and defeated

Can Christians be demonized?
Yes or No, all depends how you define the possession. They cannot be demon possessed but have demons (dwelling in the flesh) to be influenced in their bodies. Another important aspect to consider is the difference between spiritual oppression and possession. While possession involves complete control by a demonic entity, spiritual oppression refers to external forces that influence a person’s thoughts, emotions, or actions. This distinction is crucial, as many individuals may experience oppression without being fully possessed, highlighting the need for spiritual discernment and guidance in addressing such matters.
Information
1. Christians Cannot Be “Possessed”
When a person is born again, they belong to Christ (1 Cor 6:19–20).
The Holy Spirit dwells in them permanently.
Satan cannot “own” or “possess” a believer’s spirit.
Possession = ownership. No believer is owned by darkness. However, the place for demon is in the flesh.
2. Christians Can Be Demonized or Have Demons to be influenced by (Oppressed / Attacked / Influenced)
The New Testament shows that believers can experience:
• Oppression (Acts 10:38)
• Harassment (2 Cor 12:7)
• Temptation (1 Pet 5:8–9)
• Torment in the mind or emotions
• Strongholds through sin, trauma, or lies (Eph 4:27)
• Dark influence in certain areas of life
The Greek word δαιμονίζομαι (daimonizomai) is best translated “demonized,” not “possessed.”
It means influenced, afflicted, or under attack, not total control.
Believers can be:
-
influenced
-
oppressed
-
tormented
-
deceived
-
spiritually attacked
✅ 3. Biblical Examples
Several examples show believers coming under demonic attack:
• Peter influenced by Satan (Matt 16:23)
• “A daughter of Abraham” bound by a spirit (Luke 13:16)
• Ananias filled by Satan to lie (Acts 5:3)
• Paul attacked by a demonic messenger (2 Cor 12:7)
These people were not unbelievers.
✅ 4. Why Demonization Happens
Christians can be demonically oppressed through:
-
Trauma
-
Unforgiveness
-
Generational patterns
-
Habitual sin
-
Occult involvement (past or hidden)
-
Curses or word agreements
-
Open doors created by fear, anger, bitterness, or rejection
-
Moral injury or battlefield trauma (you’ve seen this as a chaplain)
This does not mean they are bad Christians.
It means they are human, wounded, and in a spiritual battle.
✅ 5. Deliverance Ministry Helps Believers Become Free
Deliverance is not just for unbelievers—
most deliverance Jesus did was on God’s people (Jews).
Deliverance for Christians means:
-
breaking strongholds
-
closing open doors
-
renouncing lies
-
healing trauma
-
casting out oppressive spirits
-
renewing the mind by the Word and Spirit
- Or set free from demons' dwellings before or after conversion due to sins
A Christian's spirit is saved,
their soul (mind, emotions, will) is being sanctified,
and their body can still be afflicted.
📌 Summary Statement
Christians cannot be possessed, but they can be demonized—dwelling, oppressed, influenced, and attacked—and they often need healing, deliverance, and discipleship to walk in complete freedom.
