Chuck Smith, a graduate of LIFE Bible College-Foursquare, gradually moved away from the traditional Pentecostal perspective on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the practice of spiritual gifts. Over time, he stopped encouraging others to embrace or exercise these gifts. This shift was one of the key reasons John Wimber parted ways with the Calvary Chapel movement, as Smith's stance discouraged the active use of the Holy Spirit's gifts.
